Ornge

Ornge is a vital part of Ontario’s health care system, providing high quality air ambulance and critical care medical transport to patients who are critically ill or injured. Operating in the air and on the ground, Ornge ensures patients receive safe, timely access to the specialized care and health services they need.

With paramedics, pilots, operations control, and administrative teams working together around the clock, patient-centred care remains at the core of everything Ornge does. Ornge operates the largest air ambulance and critical care land ambulance fleet in Canada, serving more than 14 million people across over one million square kilometres of Ontario and completing approximately 20,000 patient transports each year.

Impact

Ornge plays a critical role in keeping communities across Ontario, including remote and Northern regions, connected to essential health care. By providing high quality air ambulance and critical care transport, Ornge ensures patients receive safe, timely access to the care they need, no matter where they live.

Beyond emergency transport, Ornge invests in the future of local health care and aviation through initiatives like the Ornge Northern Air Ambulance Award, supporting students from Northern and Indigenous communities to train, study, and build careers in paramedicine, nursing, and aviation. Through these efforts, Ornge strengthens the regional workforce and helps ensure that every community has access to skilled professionals and life-saving services.
