Community Resilience & Service Award

Receive a $3,000 entrance award toward your studies at Confederation College!

Are you a new international student who has made a sustained contribution to your community, provided significant caregiving support, or continued your education while overcoming a major life challenge?
The Community Resilience & Service Award recognizes international students who demonstrate commitment, perseverance, personal growth, and a positive impact on others.
You could be selected to receive a one-time $3,000 award toward your first program at Confederation College.

AWARD GUIDELINES
Applicants must be new international students entering their first program at Confederation College.
Applicants must demonstrate one or both of the following:
• At least 12 months of sustained community service, volunteerism, or caregiving; or
• A significant personal or life challenge while continuing to make progress in their education

Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:
• Depth of service or impact: 40 points
• Reflection and personal growth: 30 points
• Verification letter from a community leader or other appropriate referee: 20 points
• Academic achievement: 10 points

Applicants must submit an impact statement of no more than 500 words and a verification letter.
The impact statement should describe the applicant’s service, caregiving responsibilities, or experience overcoming adversity. It should also explain the impact of the experience, the applicant’s personal growth, and how they continued to work toward their educational goals.
The verification letter should come from a community leader or another individual who is familiar with the applicant’s circumstances and can verify their service, contributions, resilience, and potential for success.
This award is non-renewable and may be combined with other institutional entrance awards from Confederation College.

  1. Please submit an impact statement of no more than 500 words describing your community service, caregiving responsibilities, or experience overcoming a significant life challenge. Your statement should explain all of the following: The circumstances or responsibilities involved, how long you have been involved, the actions you took, the impact on your community or the people you supported, how the experience contributed to your personal growth, and how you continued to make progress toward your educational goals.
  2. Please upload a verification letter from a community leader or another individual who can verify your service, caregiving responsibilities, personal circumstances, resilience, and potential for success.
  3. Please upload your most recent academic transcript.
